SoundSeed Impact - Binding object properties using RTPC's

SoundSeed Impact uses a series of synthesis transformation parameters to create an unlimited number of sound variations from a single source sound. These parameters can be set by the Sound Designer or controlled by the game/physics context using Real Time Parameter Controls (RTPC’s)

  • Sometimes this can be operated in one-to-one mapping between game parameters and SoundSeed Impact synthesis transformations for explicit control over each aspect of the sound transformations. For example, the “footstep impact velocity” game parameter could drive an RTPC on the frequency stretching transformations while a “surface material” game parameter could drive the bandwidth stretching transformations.

  • Sometimes a single game parameter can control multiple SoundSeed Impact transformation parameters at once. For example, an “ObjectSize” game parameter could be used to define how both frequency and bandwidth scaling transformations change when the object changes size. This also allows the Sound Designer to create RTPC curves to compensate for any undesirable interdependent parameter changes. For example, the bandwidth scaling could be reduced inversely (to prevent possible unrealistic harsh resonances) as extreme frequency scaling is performed.
